Episode 003 – The Best Kept Secret in Classical Music

Hi Everyone! Thanks for listening to Keep It Classical! When one thinks of classical music – instruments like the violin, cello, or the piano come to mind. It’s a bit less common to associate the guitar with the art form. And in Knoxville, the Knoxville Guitar Society may not have the notoriety of our Symphony Orchestra or our Opera Company, but like any great secret, you’ll be shocked when you hear about who they are and the kind of talent they bring to town. Earlier this week I had the opportunity to sit down with Dr. Michael K. Smith, the director of the Knoxville Guitar Society and we talked all things guitar, guitar society and what’s to come. As someone who is invested in sharing the absolute wealth of classical music that exists in this town, I couldn’t let you miss this opportunity. So take a listen and then come to the show this Saturday night, April 23rd at the Church of the Savior, located at 934 N. Weisgarber Road in Knoxville. The music starts at 7 PM and tickets are $20 for adults, $5 for students ages 12-18, and free for children under 12 accompanied by an adult. I hope to see you there! Enjoy the episode and remember, Keep it Classical!
