Keep It Classical Ep. 007 – A Brand New Listening Experience

1444016092434On todays episode of Keep It Classical, I talk with University of Tennessee professor and Director of Percussion Studies, Andy Bliss. We will learn more about the contemporary music juggernaut, the nief-norf Summer Festival which opened on June 7 and continues through June 20 and will take place in several different venues across Knoxville. Andy discusses nief-norf, why he loves playing percussion and makes very clear his passion for new music.

Before we get to Andy, I’ll talk a little bit about the newest addition to Knoxville, the new music director and conductor of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, Aram Demirjian. There’s no doubt in my mind, that it’s a good time, musically, to be in Knoxville!

For more information check out the festival’s website, www.niefnorf.org, or for a quick rundown, you can check out Arts Knoxille. Alan Sherrod gives a pretty concise idea of where all the things will be happening. And, of course, to learn more about Aram Demirjian, then www.knoxvillesymphony.com is where you want to be.

Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy the show and Keep It Classical!

The music used in today’s episode –
